As I sit here on Christmas Eve with a bunch of very excited littles, it’s hard to believe that another year has gone by. My biggest highlight this year was without a doubt the birth of our 10th little one, Gabriel Lucas this past June. I’ve made many wonderful new connections with people, and had an amazing year both personally and professionally. I always have so much fun putting these together, and hope that I’ve shown growth from last year’s review. I’m going into 2014 making some big changes as my family/business balance has been off kilter lately and I need to get things working right again for me and my family. My hope is that these changes will afford me more time to do things on the home front. I feel as though I’ve really refined my style this year, and want to push my creativity to new levels in the year to come. I’m greatly looking forward to it, and already have so many exciting sessions and opportunities on the calendar for the New Year. I’ve entered 3 prints in WPPI’s 16×20 print comp this year and cannot wait to see how those do – hopefully it’ll be a great way to kick off the New Year.
I’m warning you now, this is going to be long. I went through my year’s worth of work, grabbed favorites, and put them into these collages. This is a mix of personal and client work, and is in no particular order at all. My baby is in here a lot as he was such a big highlight of our 2013 year. The kids are all a year older, and a year closer to being grown. It goes by SO fast! I’m amazed at what we have accomplished as a family. Clint has his driver’s license now – oh my! It seems like yesterday that he was Gabriel’s size! If you have a few spare minutes, you can also check out my 2012 Favorites here.
Stay tuned for 2014 – I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me in the coming year. 🙂 Merry Christmas from my family to yours, and best wishes for a wonderful, happy, and healthy New Year for all! Grab a cup of hot cocoa, and enjoy! Thank you everyone for such a wonderful year!
This shoot was SO much fun! My good friend Jamie Rubeis and I have been planning a snow princess shoot for months now. Our beautiful model came all the way to us in Arizona from Kansas. We had a blast doing this, and the location we found near Flagstaff was absolute perfection! Jamie and I are already planning another shoot in February, and I cannot wait. These are some of my favorite sessions to do – so much fun!
Here are a couple of my favorite images from this shoot.
I had finally caught up on editing my client sessions and took a moment to go take a few updated photos of my baby boy Gabriel. He’s 5 months old now and growing and changing so quickly! He’s not quite at the crawling stage, but if you lay him down in one place, he will quickly work his way to another area of the room via rolling and scooching. He’s definitely on the move! He’s still a wobbly sitter, but we’re making progress in that area too. He absolutely loves his big family and has brought so much joy to all of us! He has such a sweet spirit.
Fall is quickly fading to winter in this part of the state, but I headed to one of my favorite outdoor locations outside of Kingman AZ and was able to capture the last bits of golden, autumn light. The first picture will be going on a huge canvas in my house. I need more wall space! 😀 I’m so happy I took the time to do these sweet baby days are so fleeting. This weekend I’m heading back to Las Vegas for a newborn session. I can’t wait! There is nothing sweeter than a new baby. It seems like just yesterday that Gabriel was a newborn himself. He is growing so quickly! <3
In other news, I’m doing a big ole ‘giveaway on my Facebook page! I’ll be giving away a brand new 50mm 1.4 lens AND a seat in my online editing class! It’s my way of saying Merry Christmas and thanking you all for your support over the years. What are you waiting for? Go enter yourself today – it is super easy and only takes a minute!
Let me preface this post by saying that I am SO behind on blogging! I have got to get caught up! We shall start with this gorgeous fall family! I’ve been friends with Miss Amy since her beautiful daughter was just a baby and knew her when she was pregnant with her handsome son. I’ve done photos of Maya a few times before, but had never had the pleasure of doing her family pictures. I am so glad I had the opportunity to do that this fall! Amy wasn’t loving the idea of being in front of the camera and initially just wanted photos of her 2 children, but I convinced her to step into the frame for a few shots. I’m so happy that she did! We took advantage of the last days of fall colors up on the mountains just outside of town for this shoot. Just a few short days later, a huge wind storm came through and that was the end of fall in this location! I’m glad we were able to capture it when it was at it’s most beautiful.
You have such a lovely family, Amy! It was an honor to do these pictures for you guys. I cannot wait to see them up on your walls!
