While I was on maternity leave from the birth of my own newborn baby boy, Gabriel, I decided to do a few fun, creative shoots for myself. I have always wanted to photograph a mother and her nursing baby. I put out a model call on my Facebook page and Suzy was one of the moms who sent in a picture. I immediately knew I wanted to use her and her sweet girl, Mia! Oddly enough, Suzy’s mother in law is the midwife who attended a birth I photographed last year – such a small world! I was especially excited that Mia was an older nursing baby with her 2nd birthday coming up in November. I have never successfully nursed a baby that long but think it is such a beautiful thing and was so excited to photograph it!
We headed to the beautiful Valley of Fire just outside of Las Vegas to do this shoot. It was a miserably hot day but I am absolutely in love with the photos we got, and I know Suzy and Mia will always treasure them. As a photographer, there is nothing I love more than giving people a priceless memory of a special time in their lives. As photographers, we have the power to stop time in it’s tracks, if only for a second. Suzy, it was WONDERFUL meeting you and sweet Miss Mia and taking your pictures. I know you love these and that makes me so very happy! <3 I am positive our paths will cross again! 😉
I cannot believe my sweet little guy is 2 1/2 months old already – time is going by WAY too fast! Can someone slow it down, so I can enjoy him while he’s tiny for just a little while longer? Pretty please? I officially go back to work starting tomorrow, so I had to sneak out this afternoon with my sweet boy and get a few updated pictures of him. He is changing by the day now it seems! I’ve been wanting to capture his smiles and his dimple on camera, and I finally lucked out with not only some quiet time to go out and take a few pictures, but with a happy, cooperative little bundle of cuteness. 🙂 Gabriel is now weighing in at over 12 1/2 pounds and is over 23″ long – he is growing SO fast! He’s also having conversations with me – lots of cute gurgle/throat noises and sounds of ‘Ooh!’ and ‘Goo!’ I’ll take a turn and then wait, and then he’ll work out a little sound and look so proud of himself! I adore this sweet boy so much!
